Larry Langford Cell Phone Ring Contest Update

Posted on December 20, 2007

While having Celine’s My Heart will go on (the Theme Song from Titanic) may still be accurate, Mayor Langford’s active tenure has fed us many great ringtone suggestions. Thus, much to the delight of my coworkers and wife, I have updated my cell phone ring.  Originally, I was going to update it with Lynrd Skynrd’s ‘Don’t Ask Me No Questions, and I won’t tell you no lies”.  Until recently, I did not know that this Southern Rock anthem was part of the US Constitution.  However, Mayor Langford and his lawyer seem to be crafted this new amendment (perhaps we should call it the fifth and a half amendment), based on this apparently fundamental principle of not having to answer questions based on the constitution in general (as opposed to the usual principle of citing the fifth, which would be politically damaging).

However, offering even more fodder is the proposal to put the stadium next to the dog track.  Does this make sense? Perhaps, if you look who gave money to the Mayor’s campaign.  Islands in the Stream, the duet by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton seemed appropriate for the duet seemingly being played out by Milton McGregor and the Mayor.  Unfortunately, such song was not available.

Thus, the current champion ringtone is Gilligan’s Island, which if the Mayor has his way may be the most accurate description of the dome location. But we have a long way to go, so nominations are still welcomed and appreciated, and I have a hunch that the Mayor will continue to give us some good stuff to go on.
